Brunei – Bandar Seri Begawan

About Bandar Seri Begawan

Bandar Seri Begawan is a small capital very quiet. The place is green, safe and the people are welcoming. Don’t expect to discover one busy and crowded capital.

The downtown is around Kampong Ayer. It’s not really huge. It’s a place with a lot of pirogue which arrange cruises. You can bargain easily. During the cruise, you will see the stilt houses, and the main and famous Sultan Omar Mosque which represents the city. Farther, on the river, within the forest, you will observe the proboscis monkeys. There are exclusively in the Borneo Island. The Gadong Night Market is also nice to discover the local food. It’s very cheap.

By the way, another curiosity to discover : the Empire Hotel & Country Club, one of the luxury hotel in the world. And also, the Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque with his escalator for reaching the prayer room.
